NFL DFS Value Plays: Week 7

It’s week 7 of the NFL, and we do not have a full day of football. No one is waking up to games in London or Frankfurt this week. Kind of disappointing, but we’re onto the regular slate. The value is very small this week. It feels like half the league is on the bye week. This week we have the Bengals, Cowboys, Titans, Jets, Panthers, and the Texans on bye weeks. Let’s get into the best NFL DFS value plays of the week 7 slate.

Quarterback

Sam Howell, Washington Commanders (DK-$5500/FD-$7400)

The Commanders have had an up and down kind of season with some great wins early on and some tough losses like against Philadelphia. Howell has been consistent in fantasy terms the entire time. He only has one game below 17 fppg and has boasted a 5:1 TD to Int ratio over his last two games. In week 6 he didn’t have great yardage, but tossed three touchdowns, which is a great trade in fantasy. This week he gets a nice division game against the Giants. I expect to see another consistent week from Howell and places him in the middle of the Quarterbacks this week, while cost much less.

Running Back

Jaylen Warren, Pittsburgh Steelers (DK-$5000/FD-$5700)

It seems there could be a changing of the guard in Pittsburgh at running back. Najee Harris hasn’t looked like a 1st round draft pick in a bit, enter Jaylen Warren. He has been getting almost equal touches with Harris, but outperforming him every step of the way. In week 5 before the Steelers bye week it was a 15-12 split in Harris favor. However, Warren was way more effective as he managed 79 total yards and Harris only had 40 yards. It has been the trend and I think after having this bye week that the Steelers may start leaning more on Warren. That is why he’s getting my value play nod, he’s cheaper than Harris on DFS platforms as well.

Wide Receiver

Wan’Dale Robinson, NY Giants (DK-$3800/FD-$5600)

The Giants offense is nothing to write home about, but Robinson has been fairing well in it. He is returning from a torn ACL and seems to be getting back into a rhythm. It also seems that no matter who the QB for the Giants, both like to throw to Robinson. He has had at least five targets in each of the last four games. In Week 6 against Buffalo he has a season high eight catches for 62 yards. I expect him to build off of that as the Giants take on the Commanders.

Tight End

Jonnu Smith, Atlanta Falcons (DK-$3600/FD-$5400)

At this point it should just be a copy and paste. This is just going to be my weekly, “Jonnu is underrated”, portion of the column. It’s true though, Smith was a top 10 TE In Tennessee, and a few off years and now he is back on track. Smith has been crushing it in terms of tight end production in fantasy. Since week 2, he has 25 catches for 282 yards and 1 touchdown. Desmond Ridder is not a great QB, but clearly has a sync with Smith and DFS sites haven’t made the adjustment in pricing…STILL!

Defense

Cleveland Browns (DK-$3300/FD-$4500)

The Browns have had a very goo start to the season defensively. They have only allowed 1000 yards through the first 6 games of the season, which is top 5 historically. That is impressive and this week they face a Colts team that should give reason for another good week. The Colts lost rookie QB Anthony Richardson to injury and will start Gardner Minshew. While Minshew has his moments, the Browns defense should swallow him and their run game (even with Taylor back) up. I expect another great turnout for Myles and the Browns D.

*All customers of daily fantasy sports should use their skills and judgment in building lineups. In addition, I may use different players and strategies than what I recommend above as games get closer.
