Terry Pegula and Buffalo

In 2011, American businessman Terry Pegula purchased the Buffalo Sabres and Bandits, then the Rochester Americans soon after. Terry and his wife Kim won the bid for the popular Buffalo Bills in 2014. In 2018, Terry purchased the intellectual property of the Rochester Knighthawks (original Rochester moved to Halifax and became the Thunderbirds).

The Bills are currently building a new stadium, estimated to cost $1.7 billion dollars, according to ABC 13.

According to Wikipedia, Kim Pegula grew up in Rochester and had a larger role in operations with the Knighthawks.

Terry Pegula dissolved Pegula Sports & Entertainment in 2023, according to The Athletic. Terry even took over as Team President of the Sabres. The Sabres finished 39-37-6 this season, missing the NHL Playoffs for the 13th straight season.

The Scoop

According to multiple sources, the Sabres, Bandits, Americans, and Knighthawks are all going to be sold. The only team not being sold is the Bills.

The Rochester Knighthawks are “not just relocating,” but “SELLING the team and relocating the franchise,” according to one source. This backs up a recent article.
