NFL DFS Value Plays: Week 5

It’s week 5 of the NFL, meaning Bye Weeks are in play. Gone are the possibilities of using any guy you want from any team. Instead, we have to dive in even more for the value plays. The value pool gets smaller, which makes it even better when you find the right plays. This week we have the Browns, Chargers, Bucs, and Seahawks all on bye weeks. Let’s get into the best value plays of the week 5 NFL slate for DFS across the board.

Quarterback

Josh Dobbs, Arizona Cardinals (DK-$5200/FD-$6600)

Dobbs has been a good value throughout the first four weeks of the season. Even while averaging  around 17 FP through four games, he is still priced low. I don’t think he will be highly owned either. People still think of the Cardinals as the team everyone will walk over and they haven’t been. Dobbs been efficient through the air, completing 71% of his pass attempts with an adjusted completion of 76%. He hasn’t just been airing it out though, he’s been running the ball as well. Dobbs attempts six rushes and 35 yards per game. This week he faces a Bengals defense having allowed the fifth most rushing yards to the QB position. I think Dobbs is a great value play who could have a big day against a Bengals team whose been struggling early this season.

Running Back

Breece Hall, NY Jets (DK-$5400/FD-$6500)

Hall has been waiting to be set free all season and it seems he may finally get his wish. Coach Robert Salah said that Hall has “no pitch count” and wasn’t listed on the injury report. We saw a larger touch difference between Hall and Cook against the Chiefs and I expect it to continue this week. Let’s also remember, Breece Hall is averaging 6.56 yards per carry. He is also top five in evaded tackles per touch and yards per touch. The Broncos defense isn’t as stout as it use to be in seasons past. The Jets should be in this game, which means the run game won’t be abandoned. Everyone should use their Hall pass this week.

Wide Receiver

Michael Wilson, Arizona Cardinals (DK-$3700/FD-$5300)

I am giving a value play and value stack for everyone. Wilson has become the No.2 receiver in Arizona, wether you want to believe it or not. The numbers this season and in Week 4 don’t lie, Wilson had 7 targets and Rondale Moore had zero. He has had 14 catches this season for 237 yards and 2 touchdowns this year. The Bengals have a below average pass defense and I already told you Dobbs has been great through the air. This could make for another great week for Wilson.

Tight End

Jonnu Smith, Atlanta Falcons (DK-$2900/FD-$5000)

One guys from Atlanta enjoyed playing in Andys bedroom last week, and that was Jonnu Smith. Everyone thought Kyle Pitts was the tight end to fear, but Smith has come out over the past three weeks as a big target for Desmond Ridder. Over the last 3 weeks, Smith has had 15 catches for 179 yards. He has been the go-to in the passing game for the Falcons. Does it make sense? No, it does not, but we know Smith had success in Tennessee and a rough stop in New England. Luckily for him, his stock seems to be going back up. He is a great value play against Houston where the Falcons may be passing to play catch up all game.

Defense

Saints (DK-$3000/FD-$4000)

The Saints have given up an average of 19 points per game, which ranks 9th in the league. They have also forced six takeaways, which is eight in the league. They face a Patriots team that is only scoring 13.8 game per season and has turned the ball over seven times. The Patriots are coming up the worst loss of the Bill Belichick era, but I don’t see their offense coming out on fire this week. The Saints are a great play and should be a solid value defense for everyone.

Best of luck with your NFL week 5 DFS value plays for this week and hopefully we can all get in the green!
