Monday Night DFS Showdown: Chargers v. Jets

At the beginning of the season when Aaron Rodgers went down we all thought the Jets season was over. Surprisingly that’s not the case, the Jets are a win away from being half a game out of fist in the AFC East. What a time to be alive. The Chargers have just been chargering along and have had a roller coaster season. Lots of talent, but none of the follow through of victory. It makes games like this fun ones to figure out. Two teams that talent on all different sides of the ball, who steps up tonight? Let’s get into the Monday night DFS showdown.

Captain

Breece Hall, NY Jets (DK-$15,600)

The Jets have finally seemed to figure out that Breece Hall is a phenomenal running back. It took part of the season, but they got there. Hall rushed 12 times for 17 yards and caught six of nine targets for 76 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s 13-10 overtime win over the Giants. He’s had a touchdown in each of the last three weeks and has topped 90+ total yards in those games as well. The Chargers defense isn’t great and I don’t think the Jets still 100% trust Zach Wilson. That means another game with plenty of touches for Hall. He will be a main focus and he’s much cheaper than the Chargers 3 headed monster that leads all player salaries this week.

Flex

Justin Herbert, LA Chargers (DK-$11,800)

The Jets defense is very good. That is just a fact, they rank 2nd in touchdowns given up with only 11 allowed. They are tough to play, and I can see Austin Ekeler having a rough time getting the run game going. That means Herbert will have to sling it around the field a lot tonight. It’s not crazy to think, but if the Chargers have any shot to win the game, they’ll need him on top of his game. The Jets have made many good QBs look bad over the first 8 weeks of the season. I still like Herbert as a flex with a stack of a pass catcher or two.

Bargain Bin

Tyler Conklin, NY Jets (DK-$3000)

Outside of last weeks game against the Giants, Conklin had a streak of 3+ catches in 5 straight games. Last week he saw only two targets and no catches. It was a weird game in the meadowlands last week and I think Conklin bounces back. His two targets matched the combined total of C.J. Uzomah and Jeremy Ruckert, so Conklin remains the top pass catching option among the Jets’ tight ends. Wilson will have to make some passes tonight and I think a few play actions or safety valve catches could be in store for Conklin on short routes.

Hope these picks help leas to a great night for everyone!
