Brutal, college golfer has two incorrect scorecards. Earlier this week at the Wake Forest Invitational hosted at Pinehurst No. 2, the site of the 2024 U.S. Open, SMU’s Areen Aggarwal was part of the lineup. On the opening day of play, the freshman completed 36 holes before ending the tournament with an 18-hole final round on Tuesday.

However, his scores did not count towards the team score on the first day. This was because Aggarwal signed two incorrect scorecards on the first day of play, which disqualified both of his scores. Unfortunately, this cost SMU 10 shots in the team competition over the first two rounds.

AJGA on Twitter: “Areen Aggarwal won the @TJGT Tour Championship thanks to an impressive back-nine charge. He leads off the latest Polo @RalphLauren #InspiredPerformances! / Twitter”

A little redemption

In the final round, Aggarwal shot an even-par 70, which was the second-best score of the day for the Mustangs. However, the team finished at 30 over and came in solo 10th out of 12 teams due to incorrect scorecards. If the scorecards had been correct, SMU would have placed sixth. It was a tough situation, but Aggarwal bounced back strongly on Tuesday. Hopefully, down the road, the team will look back at this as a funny story to tell.
