Brady ‘not opposed’ to NFL comeback after two retirements, mentions potential teams

Is there a Tom Brady comeback story in the making? It seems like this guy can’t stay away for more than a year or two.

In 2023, Tom Brady announced his retirement from football for the second time and stated that he was done playing for good. However, recent news suggests that the former NFL player is reconsidering his decision. During an appearance on “DeepCuts with VicBlends,” the host asked Brady if he would answer a call from a needy team if they offered him a chance to return to the field.

Brady answered…

“I’m not opposed to it,” Brady responded with a smile. “I don’t know if they’re gonna let me if I become an owner of an NFL team, but I don’t know if — I don’t know, I’m always gonna be in good shape, (I’ll) always be able to throw the ball. So to come in for a little bit, like M.J. coming back? I don’t know if they’d let me, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”

Jordan-esque?

Michael Jordan, who had a legendary career in the NBA, retired three times between 1993 and 2003. If Tom Brady is name-dropping Jordan, it suggests that he may not have fully closed the door on his own playing career.

However, the key to his potential NFL return would be his pending ownership of the Las Vegas Raiders. Currently, Brady is not yet approved as a minority owner of the team, but if he is approved, NFL rules would likely mandate league-wide approval of a playing contract should he choose to pursue a return to the field.

Michael Jordan Returns (March 19, 1995)

Michael Jordan returns to the NBA from his brief retirement where he was playing baseball. Michael scored 19 points on 7 for 28 shooting while grabbing six rebounds and handing out six assists. However the Bulls were defeated by the Indiana Pacers 103-96. For more exciting and rare footage log onto www.arhenetwork.com.

Reunited and it feels so good?

Regardless, it’s clear Brady isn’t done with the idea, even going on 47.

“Patriots? Could be,” he joked when asked about a move to the San Francisco 49ers. “Raiders? Could be. You never know.”

Brady played his last game for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022. That was his third and final season with the club. Before that, he had spent an extraordinary 20-year career with the Patriots, during which he won seven Super Bowls and was named the NFL MVP three times. Although technically a free agent, having seen his contract with the Buccaneers expire, he is now free to sign with any of the 32 teams ahead of the 2024 campaign.
