Woods Leaves One Spot Open

Is Tiger returning? Tiger Woods has announced the 19 players who will be participating in his Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. However, it is yet to be determined whether he’ll be part of the group. The event will take place at Albany Golf Club during the first weekend of December. The list includes all eligible members of the U.S. Ryder Cup team, along with two players who were left off the team.

One notable absence is Brooks Koepka who is suspended from the PGA Tour for his involvement with the Saudi-funded LIV Golf League. Koepka was a captain’s pick for the Ryder Cup.

Woods hasn’t played competitively since withdrawing from the Masters after making the cut. He had ankle surgery a short time later following injuries related to his car accident in February 2021. However, he was seen hitting wedges during a foundation event at Pebble Beach last week.

Viktor Hovland, who has won the tournament twice in a row, is among the three players from Europe’s winning Ryder Cup team in Rome.

Rickie Fowler and Justin Thomas have been awarded sponsor exemptions. Both players are among the top 25 in the world rankings, which highlights the strength of the field. To receive an exemption, players must be among the top 50. This provision is for the unofficial event to get world ranking points.
