LeBron James is only nine points short of 40,000 for his career

LeBron is about to hit 40k for his career. On Wednesday night, LeBron James led the Lakers to a 21-point fourth-quarter comeback against the Clippers, scoring 34 points, 19 of which were in the fourth quarter. He hit five 3-pointers to secure the win. The following night, James scored 31 points in the Lakers’ overtime victory against the Wizards.

James has now scored 39,991 points over his 21-year career, leaving him just nine points shy of becoming the first player in NBA history to reach the 40,000-point milestone. He is expected to reach this milestone on Saturday during a nationally televised game when the Lakers host the Nuggets.

Setting a new standard

LeBron James is currently having his best season ever as a 39-year-old basketball player. He is averaging 25.2 points, 7.9 assists, and 7.1 rebounds per game, with a remarkable true shooting percentage of 61.6. In the previous season, he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, and he has been increasing that number further this season by scoring 1,339 points so far.

As always, LeBron remains the driving force behind the Lakers’ energy. For the team to win, he has to maintain his high level of play and provide top-notch shot-creation skills. Unfortunately, it’s not the most promising outlook for the franchise that a 39-year-old is the pivotal player. Nevertheless, LeBron is still incredibly capable and is currently playing at an All-NBA level.

On Saturday, LeBron James will add another milestone to his already impressive legacy.
