Ole Miss coach chimes in on Dave Portnoy’s Tweet

Is Ole Miss coach, Lane Kiffin, trolling Texas A&M? The Aggies hired Duke coach Mike Elko. Elko is coming off a 7-5 season with Duke. The Blue Devils were ranked early, before losing 5 of their last 8 games to end the season. Elko was 16-9 in two seasons at Duke.

Meanwhile, Bartool Sports’ Dave Portnoy, recently more outspoken about the Ohio State and Michigan rivalry, and namely the Harbaugh suspension, tweeted some laughter A&M’s way.

I don’t know if this is Aggie tradition or what, but it was rather odd to the outsider. Regardless, the Ole Miss coach thought he’d chime in on Portnoy’s tweet.

You young readers, brace yourselves. I am going to try and break down this Kiffin tweet. The monkey with his eyes covered typically means “see no evil.” This can be interpreted in a few ways. According to dictionary.com, it can mean “Did I really say that?” or “I won’t tell a soul.”

The second emoji, known as cold face, is used in reference to “that’s cold” or “that’s great”, from the same source as above. We know Kiffin isn’t afraid of the limelight, and does from time to time get a bit edgy. Why would he poke fun at a colleague and league foe, unprovoked? Does he have beef with A&M?

Did Kiffin get considered?

According to several sources, including Sports Illustrated and MSN, it was never officially announced that either party was interested. Frankly, I don’t think A&M is a step up from Ole Miss anyway. This simply looks like Kiffin being Kiffin, struggling with his inner child and professional self. Luckily for him, and sadly for us, they don’t play in the regular season next year.
