Brooks Ejected in Debut

Dillon Brooks, who recently joined the Houston Rockets, was ejected from his preseason debut game in less than five minutes. He received a flagrant foul 2 for hitting Daniel Theis, a player from Indiana Pacers, below the waist with his left hand. The incident occurred when Brooks was trying to fight through a screen in the first quarter of the game.

The referees reviewed the play and concluded that Brooks had committed unnecessary and excessive contact against his opponent. The result was his automatic ejection from the game. After the game, Brooks expressed his disappointment and stated that every time he taps someone below the waist, he gets picked on.

“Tried to navigate a screen. I might have tapped him below the waist. But he got right back up, and I don’t know. It’s just weird that every time that happens to me. I get picked on. I guess this is a part of the reputation,” Brooks said after the game, according to Sports Radio 610.

Brooks was removed from a playoff game last spring for hitting Lakers’ superstar LeBron James in the groin, which is similar to the most recent incident. He has become a solid role player. Brooks played for the Memphis Grizzlies for six seasons before signing with the Rockets for a four-year $80 million contract this offseason.

However, Brooks is now more known for his on-court antics and comments off the court. Last season, he led the league with 18 technical fouls. This resulted in multiple fines and a two-game suspension. Brooks was also suspended for one game after striking Cavaliers’ star Donovan Mitchell in the groin, which led to a short physical altercation between the two players.
